The country’s white sandy beaches, blue tropical skies and pristine waters of two popular tourism destinations, Boracay and Palawan, were the focus of the Department of Tourism (DOT) billboard campaign theme to attract nature-lover outbound tourists of Sydney, Australia. The alluring words of the country’s new tourism billboard campaign in Australia featuring “Time to Discover a New Paradise” have captivated a large number of train-goers in Metropolitan Sydney.Tourism Attaché Ma. Consuelo said that “The Philippine tourism billboards have awed a large number of Sydney train-goers largely because of their natural appeal to Australians who are the ultimate nature-lovers of the sand, surf and the beach. An increasing number of Australians have indeed taken a keen interest on the natural wonders of the Philippines and we hope to further spur this interest through promotions such as this.” The huge billboards have been recently put up in major train stations within the Greater Sydney areas as part of the latest campaign to promote the Philippines as a nature-lovers’ destination before a metropolitan Sydney audience. Jones added, “The DOT-Sydney has set-up six giant billboards in several major train stations, namely : the Central, Town Hall and Martin Place stations located within the Central Business District; and the Inner Sydney, Bondi Junction and Strathfield. The total estimated traffic flow in these areas daily is 12.5 million people. Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano said, “The tourism billboard campaign in Australia is the DOT’s latest effort to create awareness among the Australians on travel to the Philippines.” Australia has consistently been in the top ten list of visitor arrivals to the country. In the latest January statistics, it has recorded over 8,500 in visitor arrivals, covering a total share of 3.2 percent. From Department of Tourism
