Accor Hotel Manila

Manila Jockey Club (MJC) Inc. has tapped the Accor Group to manage a 250-room luxury hotel it will construct on its 1.4-hectare property in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

MJC Investments has executed a memorandum of understanding with Accor Group's affiliate, AAPC Singapore Pte., for hotel consultancy and management services for the project.

Bakasyunan Resort Zambales

Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center in Iba, Zambales province has been upgraded as an AA tourist establishment. As such, the Department of Tourism (DOT) endorsed the facility as a Philippine tourism establishment with excellent accommodations, services and facilities.

Travel Deals

Tourism between the Philippines and Japan prove its resilience amid the economic global scenario as activities still abound.  In line with the Department of Tourism (DOT)’s efforts to intensify marketing campaigns for the Japanese market, DOT Team Japan and Cebu Pacific have developed a stimulus plan which includes direct flights to Manila from Osaka, accommodations, tours, and transfers.

“These are fruits of our partnerships with tourism establishments such as airlines, hotels, tour operators and service providers.  During these challenging times, we see all the more that working together is important to spur growth in the industry,” said Ace Durano, Secretary of Tourism.

Boutique Hotel Davao

Ayala Hotels and Resorts Corp. (AHRC) and Anflo Management and Investment Corp. (Anflocor) have entered into a joint venture for the construction of a 9-storey, 148-room boutique hotel in Davao City.

The hotel will rise within the 10-hectare Abreeza, a mixed-used development that includes a mall, an office facility as well as a residential tower. It is set for completion by mid-2012.

 

Amisa Hotel

Robinsons Land Corp. has completed the second residential tower at Amisa, its master-planned, six-hectare leisure residential community in Mactan, Cebu.  The whole project will have six residential towers, a hotel, an entertainment centre and a host of amenities designed to provide the ultimate vacation lifestyle.

Marriott Manila

 

Marriott Manila has opened a new space for its events.  Located at the Newport City, Marriott Manila said its Garden View offers a variety of banquet and conference facilities.  It features three function rooms that can accommodate both social and corporate events. 

 

Novotel Hotel Cubao

Araneta Group and Accord have started the construction of Novotel Manila Araneta Centre a PhP2.5-billion hotel in Cubao, Quezon City.  The project is expected to be completed by 2014.

The 415-room hotel is located within the 90-hectare Araneta Centre, a commercial, entertainment and multipurpose complex owned and managed by the Araneta Group in Cubao.  The Novotel will be the first deluxe businessman’s hotel development in Quezon City that will cater to local and foreign businessmen as well as the middle-income market.

Shangri-La bans sharks fin

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has declared that dishes containing shark’s fin will no longer be offered in its 72 hotels and resorts worldwide as part of its “Sustainable Food Policy.”  The international hotel chain said it will also be phasing out its bluefin tuna and Chilean sea bass dishes.

“The new policy is a continuation of Shangri-la’s journey towards environmental support. Shangri-La will continue to review and refine its overall programmes including environmental and sustainability issues,” it said.
