Alliance Global Group Inc., the holding company of businessman Andrew Tan, will build a new luxury hotel within the group’s 25-hectare Newport City just across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons plan Boracay hotels

High-end hotel chains Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts and the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts are looking at the possibility of putting up luxurious hotels in Boracay.

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) BizTour committee chairman Samie Lim said the two hotel chains have approached the Department of Tourism for possible investments in the island-resort.

Badian Island Resort and Spa

A Cebu-based spa offering "hilot", a traditional deep-tissue therapeutic massage, has been ranked as the world's eighth best spa.

In its May-June 2006 issue, Asia Spa Magazine recognized the Badian Island Resort and Spa in Cebu as among the world's best.

Badian Island Resort and Spa is nestled between a cliff and Badian Bay and is only five- minute ride from southwestern Cebu, where an intuitive "hilot" massage awaits guests.

"While many rub downs have predetermined strokes, this massage, native to the Philippines, is customized to each individual," the Department of Tourism said.

The Farm San Benito

The Farm at San Benito in Lipa City, Batangas has been recognised as one of the region’s finest destination for its detox retreats and living foods cuisine by the Wall Street Journal. It described the Farm as pioneer in raw and vegan cuisine in Asia and cited its organic plantation that produces much of its vegan food and spa ingredients.

Eton Centris Walk, an open space commercial complex on a 12-hectare township development of Eton Centris, has opened to the public for major events.

AirAsia flights

AirAsia Philippines will launch flights from Clark to Davao City and Kalibo, Aklan.  “We are thrilled and excited to offer an opportunity for both local and international tourists to experience and explore Davao, one of the most alluring gateways to the Philippines, by offering daily flights from our hub in Clark at all-in low fares,”  said AirAsia Inc. CEO Marianne Hontiveros.

AirAsia is offering a PhP599 “all in” fare from Clark to Kalibo and PhP799 from Clark to Davao.  The company describes this as “one of the lowest offers in the market.”   AirAsia also plans to mount flights from Clark to Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau.

Marco Polo Hotel Ortigas

Marco Polo Hotels and Xin Tian Ti Development Corp. have signed a partnership deal to develop a PhP3-billion five-star hotel in the Ortigas central business district.  XTT president Samuel Po said the planned hotel will have 313 guest rooms and upscale suites and is scheduled to open by the fourth quarter of 2013.

World’s top hotels

Three hotels in the Philippines have been included in the latest list of 500 best hotels in the world complied by Travel + Leisure magazine.  These three Philippine hotels are the Peninsula Manila, Makati Shangri-La Manila, and Discovery Shores Boracay. The entries in the annual roster are determined by Travel + Leisure readers.

In 2011, the same three hotels made it to the Travel + Leisure list, along with Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa.

Azalea Residences Baguio

Manila is an ‘Awful’ Place Worth Visiting

Australian newspaper The Age has recommended Metro Manila as one of 10 cities in the world that are worth visiting, despite their undeserved negative image.  In his article “Ten ‘awful’ cities you should still visit,” published on 27th August 2013 issue of the Melbourne-based newspaper The Age, author David Whitley said there are certain cities in the world that saw their reputation repeatedly and unfairly thrashed.
