Fast Rising Tourist Spots in the Philippines 2

CNN cites 3 Philippine beaches. Cable News Channel (CNN) has included three Philippine beaches on its list of the best 100 beaches in the world.  The Atlanta-based CNN said Puka Beach in Boracay, El Nido in Palawan, and Palaui Island in Cagayan are among the best destinations for beachgoers around the globe. It listed Palaui at No. 10, the only Southeast Asian beach in the Top 10.

Cebu Pacific carries 2.45 million passengers

Cebu Pacific flew 2.45 million domestic and international passengers in the first quarter of 2010, higher by almost 110,000 than Philippine Airlines’ system-wide figure of 2.34 million passengers.

The Philippines was dubbed the “Best Tropical Island Destination” by Chinese daily Shanghai Morning Post.
Winners in various categories are based on a consumer survey done by the newspaper and partner Shanghai, a giant social media platform in China.

World Ecotourism Conference in Cebu

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have unveiled a nine-year National Ecotourism Strategy and Action Plan (NES) at the 5th World Ecotourism Conference (WEC) in Cebu City.

1 Billion Global Tourists

International tourist arrivals grew 5 percent year-on-year in 2013, reaching a record 1.087 billion arrivals, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). Despite global economic challenges, international tourism results were well above expectations, with an additional 52 million international tourists travelling the world in 2013. For 2014, UNWTO forecasts 4 percent to 4.5 percent growth.
