Panglao Island

Located at the southwestern tip of Bohol province, Panglao boasts of a long stretch of white-sand beaches embracing crystal-clear and blue waters. Aside from beach activities, foreign tourists who visit Panglao are in for wonderful treats like diving, snorkelling and caving. Panglao is also fast rising as a venue for corporate gatherings such as conventions, seminars and brainstorming.

Corregidor Island, damaged by typhoon

Typhoon "Caloy", the summer storm that spoiled the travel plans of tourists in the Philippines in the second week of May, hurt local tourism and caused damages on one of the country's most famous heritage sites.

The Department of Tourism reported that the typhoon, with the international codename "Chanchu", destroyed facilities at the historic Corregidor, a tiny rocky island situated 48 kilometers west of Manila.

A lake within a lakeA recent visit to Batangas province has been a rewarding experience for our small group of trekkers looking for a unique weekend just outside Metro Manila.  The Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA) made the trip possible.

The group headed south, about 80 kilometers from Manila, via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway until we reached the idyllic lakeshore town of Talisay, where flowers bloom all around.

Domestic airlines

Domestic air traffic rose 10.45 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2010, according to the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).  Data shows that 8.39 million passengers flew on domestic flights in the January-June period this year, up from 7.59 million passengers a year ago.
