The opening of Shangri-La's Boracay Resort and Spa has uplifted the tourism experience in Boracay Island, with its 217 rooms, high-end facilities and amenities, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT). The total cost of the new resort amounted to PhP4 billion.
More hotels are expected to open in the Philippines in 2009 that would add over 3,000 rooms in the accommodation sector.
