Discovery Shores Boracay

Discovery Shores Boracay was included in the list of Top 15 resorts in Asia in the prestigious World's Best Awards Readers Survey, according to a report by Philippine Star.

Kukun Hotel

Kukun Hotels, the boutique hotel brand of the Ayala Group, will rise in several areas of the country, including the Fort in Taguig, Quezon City, Alabang, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro City. AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts Corp., the hotels and resorts arm of the Ayala Group, broke ground in early part of 2011 for its first Kukun hotel in Bonifacio Global City. This will be the first of the five Kukun hotels that are expected to open beginning 2012.
 
The Kukun brand of hotels will cater to the increasing number of business travellers and tourists around the country, according to Ayala Land. In Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, the 180-room Kukun Hotel is targeted for opening by second-quarter of 2012.

Amisa Mactan Hotel

Robinsons Land Corp. will construct a 200-room deluxe hotel in Mactan, Cebu province. The hotel will be located within the Ami-Sa development, a master-planned, six-hectare leisure residential community project. It is expected to be completed by 2013.
 

All Hands Beach Resort Subic

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has awarded the management of the 5,600-square meter All Hands Beach Resort to Brighterday Subic Ltd., Inc. (BSLI). The resort is formerly operated by the Freeport Service Corporation (FSC) which is located in a private cove.  SBMA said BSLI pledged to invest PhP10 million within five years to immediately improve the condition of the beach resort.

Twin Lakes Hotel Tagaytay

A new integrated residential-resort development will soon rise in Tagaytay City.  Fil-Estate Land, Inc. and Megaworld Corp. have partnered to develop a world-class tourism-oriented project called Twin Lakes, over a 1,149-hectare property.

The first phase of the project will include a luxury hotel, residential villas and condominiums, a shopping village, botanical garden, sports and country club, and plantation estates. 

 

Marriott Manila

Resom Resort Subic

Korean firm Resom Resort Co., Ltd. will develop a 230-hectare forest area for a future resort complex in Subic Bay.  The company, which is said to be Korea’s largest time-share group, however, has abandoned its plan to develop the Puerto Azul project in Ternate, Cavite.

Radisson Blue Mall of Asia

 

SM Investments Corp. plans to begin work on a five-star development within the Mall of Asia complex by the first half of 2012, according to a report by BusinessWorld.   “Right now, we’re finalising plans for our flagship hotel Radisson Blu in Mall of Asia. We are hoping to break ground there by next year, probably in the first half,” said Ms. Christina A. Bautista, SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. vice-president for business development and administration.

The hotel will rise between the SMX Convention Centre and San Miguel by The Bay restaurant strip and  will have around 400 rooms, making it the SM unit’s biggest project yet.

 

 

GO Hotel

JG Summit Holdings (JGS) will invest PhP6 billion for the construction of 30 budget hotels over the next four years to complement its budget airline business as the company anticipates robust tourism trade in the country.

JG Summit president and COO Lance Gokongwei described tourism as a natural third leg of the Philippine economy next to overseas Filipino workers and BPO.

1 Billion Global Tourists

International tourist arrivals grew 5 percent year-on-year in 2013, reaching a record 1.087 billion arrivals, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). Despite global economic challenges, international tourism results were well above expectations, with an additional 52 million international tourists travelling the world in 2013. For 2014, UNWTO forecasts 4 percent to 4.5 percent growth.
