How to go to Las Pinas

Las Piñas City in the southern part of Metro Manila has retained much of its provincial appeal. Its main attraction, however, is the world-famous bamboo organ, found in the town's picturesque Catholic church. The centuries-old musical instrument was constructed between 1792 and 1819. It has 174 bamboo pipes, 122 horizontal reeds of soft metal, a five-octave keyboard, and 22 stops arranged in vertical rows. The church is open daily except Sunday morning.

CamSur Tourism

Camarines Sur, now popularly known as CamSur, was the top provincial destination in 2010, according to a report by Philippine Star, citing data from the Department of Tourism (DOT).  Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. said the province recorded a total of 2,330,116 foreign and local visitors in 2010 and is now considered as the country’s top destination.  The figure represented a growth of 48.75 percent from a year ago.

As a destination, Puerto Galera is much more diverse than Boracay in Aklan, thanks to its more than 20 beaches, spanning from the secluded to the overcrowded.  Sabang Beach is a major magnet to foreign tourists, being an ideal jump off point to spectacular diving sites and its beach area has numerous hotels, resorts, restaurants and clubs. White Beach, about 14 kilometers from sabang, is the crowd favorite on the other side of the town and attracts foreign and tourists alike.

It is also home to the Philippine Stock Exchange. At Ayala Center, the heart of Makati, there are several shopping malls and international restaurants. It is also surrounded by a number of hotels such as Oakwood Premiere Hotel (now Ascott), Hotel Intercontinental, Makati Shangri La, Dusit Hotel Nikko, and Renaissance Hotel. Also within walking distance are the Peninsula Manila and the Mandarin Oriental.

Pasig River attractions

A leisurely cruise of the Pasig River on board air-conditioned, 150-seater ferry boats now affords both domestic passengers and foreign tourists alike a fresh view of Manila and its historic establishments and trading places, thanks to an Asian Development Bank-financed program to rehabilitate the 27-kilometer tributary and make it an alternative transport route.

From the CCP complex, one can proceed to Nayong Pilipino. This 32-acre theme park is also just a 10-minute drive from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The number of foreign tourists who visited the Philippines' top 16 regional destinations outside Metro Manila rose 6.4 percent year-on-year in the first six months of 2009, according to the Department of Tourism or DOT.

"Foreign arrivals in key destinations increased 6 percent in the first half of the year despite a decrease of 6 percent in inbound visitors into East Asia and the Pacific," Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said in his semestral report.

Underground River as World Wonder

Filipinos are encouraged to vote for the Philippines' Puerto Princesa Underground River as one of the world’s Seven New Wonders of Nature, according to Manila Bulletin.  The Subterranean River Natural Park, also known as the Underground River, is the only Philippine entry that qualified for the global search.  From over 440 participating locations in 220 countries, the Underground River was chosen as one of the 28 finalists for the final voting to determine the Seven New Wonders of Nature that will be announced on 11th November 2011.
