Holidays in 2012

President Benigno Aquino III has issued Proclamation No. 295, identifying Philippine holidays in 2012, and scheduling them near weekends, to give workers enough time to visit their families in the provinces.  Under the proclamation, there will be at least six long weekends during 2012.

The first special non-working holiday will be 23rd January 2011 to mark the Chinese New Year.  A long break will be in April during the Christian observance of Lent, beginning with Maundy Thursday on 5th April, Good Friday on 6th April, up to Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valour) on 9th April, which is a Monday.  This will be followed by a long weekend in August with the declaration of National Heroes’ Day on 27th August, a Monday.
