Hamilton Hotel to rise

Alliance Global Group Inc., the holding company of businessman Andrew Tan, will build a new luxury hotel within the group’s 25-hectare Newport City just across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

Boracay, Cebu to open new hotel rooms. Luxury destinations Boracay, Cebu and Palawan are adding thousands of new hotel rooms this year, according to a report by Manila Standard Today.

Real estate advisory firm CBRE Philippines said the 27 upcoming hotels in Boracay alone would add 2,655 hotel rooms.   It said with the rise of Aqua Boracay, the last single big development project on the resort island, only 168.5 hectares of disposable and alienable land were left for future developments.

Foreign and domestic tourists can stay at any of the 2,343 hotels and resorts in seven key destinations in the Philippines.  Altogether, these accommodation facilities provide 65,052 rooms as of June 2010.  About 46,048 persons are employed in these facilities, with 78 percent as regular personnel and 22 percent as seasonal employees.

Fairmont Makati and Raffles Suites

Hotel operator Raffles and Fairmont is set to open its first development in Makati City by the second semester of 2012.  The project called Fairmont Makati & Raffles Suites, built by Kingdom Hotel Investments and local developer Ayala Land, Inc., is reportedly set for completion by September.  The 30-storey project will include the 237-unit luxury Raffles Residences, 32-suite Raffles Hotel, and 280-room Fairmont Hotel.

Microtel Mactan renamed

Enrison Land, Inc. has renamed Microtel Grand Mactan Resort into Be Resorts, with an eye for expansions to follow within the year.  Mr. Garry Garcia, general manager of Be Resorts, said the name change came with the management’s thrust for a new direction towards property management.   The resort manager said they expect to launch Be Resorts within the third quarter of this year.

Tune Hotel Ortigas opens

nternationally owned and operated hotel brand Tune Hotels announced the opening of the 182-room Tune Hotel Ortigas.  Located in the heart of Ortigas’ central business district on Shaw Boulevard, the property is the eighth Tune Hotel to open in the Philippines in the last two years after Angeles City, Ermita, Makati, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Quezon City.

Red Planet Hotels, which operates Tune Hotels, said two more hotels will open in the Philippines in 2014, further strengthening the company’s confidence and commitment to the local tourism industry.
