Subic Bay Mall
Subic Bay Freeport may allow the construction of a casino and shopping mall inside the Freeport by 2012 to strengthen the area’s appeal to tourists, according to a report by BusinessWorld. Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) also wanted the Freeport to be included in the Asian Cruise Terminals Association’s (ACTA) list of destinations.
“There are projects under way to improve the tourism in Subic, since we are not yet as world-class as Singapore, but at least we are starting,” Mr. Raul F. Marcelo, SBMA deputy administrator, was quoted as saying. “For now, we’re looking at another casino, because cruise ships, once they enter Philippine territory, have to shut down their own casino operations. And we’re looking at an Ayala mall development.”
