PAL Flying to New York

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has started flying the newer Boeing 777-330ER to the United States, while selling the 747-400 jets it retired following an air safety ratings upgrade by the US.

PAL’s Boeing 777 bound for Los Angeles took off for the first time on 3rd May 2014, the airline said.  The new aircraft will meanwhile start servicing the Manila-San Francisco route in early June.

PAL currently flies 26 flights a week to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu and Guam.  PAL Holdings, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Ramon S. Ang said he is eyeing flights to New York City sometime in October, as well as to other US destinations including Chicago and Florida through Japan or Korea.

“Right now, we have six units of 777-300ER,” Mr. Ang said.
