Terminal fees included in airline tickets

Airlines have agreed to include the international passenger service charge or terminal fees in the cost of airline tickets beginning October 2014.  Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said the move would result in reduced queuing time at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA.

MIAA said the integration of the terminal fees in airline tickets would help address the congestion problem for departing passengers at NAIA, and would free up a sizeable area as the existing terminal fee counters would be removed.

It said the policy is at par with international standards and practices because among ASEAN countries, the Philippines is the only one collecting terminal fees on a face-to-face basis at the airport.
