Army & Navy Club Hotel

After standing at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and Kalaw Street for 103 years, the historic Manila Army & Navy Club in the City of Manila has begun to be “reinvented” to meet the needs of modern times.

Workmen started tearing down parts of the Army & Navy Club on 3rd September 2014 with the permission of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines as part of plans to redevelop it into a boutique hotel.

The NHCP allowed contractors to begin demolition of two annex buildings that were not original parts of the Manila Army & Navy Club and were found to be in a bad state of decay, according to architect Wilkie Delumen, chief of the NHCP historic preservation division.

The plan to convert the historic site into a boutique hotel was proposed by Oceanville Hotel and Spa Corp. and noted architect Felino Palafox was tapped to lead the redevelopment which NHCP calls a “restoration.”
