Tune Hotels and Branches in the Philippines

Hotel developer and leading Tune Hotel franchisee Red Planet Hotels Inc. is scaling up its presence in the Philippines with the opening of three new hotels, expanding its local chain to 10 key locations.

Red Planet CEO Tim Hansing said the company would invest around US$80 million in the Philippines for its growing no-frills hotel chain. This investment would cover 10 hotels, seven of which are already up and running.

In two to three weeks, the newest Tune Hotel will open in Ortigas while, later this year, Red Planet will open another hotel within the Mall of Asia area. Another is set to open in Makati City. With the new hotels, Red Planet’s Philippine hotel portfolio will rise to about 2,500 rooms.  The chain offers affordable accommodations ranging from US$15 to US$25 a night.

The company’s seven existing hotels are in Makati City, Cagayan, Davao, Quezon City, Cebu, Malate (Manila) and Angeles (Pampanga).

In 2014, Tune Hotels opened two new properties – Tune Hotel Davao in the Philippines and Tune Hotel Bekasi in Indonesia.

The 155-room Tune Hotel Davao, located at J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City, welcomed its first guests on 17th December 2013 while Tune Hotel Bekasi, with 157 rooms and located at Blu Plaza, Jl. Chairil Anwar 27-36 in Bekasi Timur, Indonesia opened for business on 19th December 2013.

“What a celebration! We have two hotels opening just days apart in two of the most vibrant economies in Asean and this surely is a big cause to celebrate for Tune Hotels. Both Indonesia and Philippines are great markets for us and our rapid expansion in both countries signifies their importance,” said Tune Hotels CEO Mark Lankester.

Tune Hotels now has seven hotels in operation in the Philippines and six in Indonesia.
