Vigan wants to be a wonder city

Vigan was nominated as one of the 28 semi finalists in the Search for the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World. Vigan in Ilocos Sur province is the only city in the Philippines that qualified in the round.

 

New 7 Wonders Cities is the third global vote organized by New 7 Wonders and follows the successful New 7 Wonders of the World and New 7 Wonders of Nature campaigns.

 

The other cities in the finals are Athens in Greece, Bangkok in Thailand, Barcelona in Spain, Beirut in Lebanon, Casablanca in Morroco, Chicago in the USA, Doha in Qatar, Durban in South Africa, Havana in Cuba, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Istanbul in Turkey, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Kyoto in Japan, La Paz in Bolivia, London in the UK, Mendoza in Argentina, Mexico City, Mumbai in India, Perth in Australia, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Prague in the Czech Republic, Quito in Ecuador, Reykjavik in Iceland, St. Petersburg in Russia, Seoul in South Korea, Shenzhen in China, and Vancouver in Canada. 

 

The result of the voting will be known in July 2014 and shall trim down the entries to 14 finalists. By December 2014, the New 7 Wonder Cities will be declared.
