Domestic airlines

Domestic air traffic rose 10.45 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2010, according to the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).  Data shows that 8.39 million passengers flew on domestic flights in the January-June period this year, up from 7.59 million passengers a year ago.

Robinsons Land Corp. plans to build 30 new budget hotels over the next five years, including 20 that will be covered by franchises.  “We want to open at least 30 hotels in five years. Now we have found a franchisee that is willing to open 20 hotels,” Mr. Frederick D. Go, president and COO of Robinsons Land, was quoted as saying.

Donsol, Whale Shark Capital

a wild butangding in donsonOnce a sleepy coastal village located at the northwestern tip of Sorsogon province, this town now eyes to be a first-class municipality, thanks to giant sea creatures that are now attracting hordes of foreign and local tourists who infuse millions of pesos into the local economy. "Donsol was elevated to a third-class municipality in 2006 from a fourth-class status in 2003 and fifth-class in 1998, because of the butanding," Mayor Salve Ocaya said, while giving tribute to the whale sharks, considered as the world's largest fish that have found a home in the plankton-rich municipal waters of Donsol.
