IATF allows Baguio hotels to receive domestic tourists under GCQ

The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced today that Baguio hotels can resume receiving domestic tourists even under General Community Quarantine (GCQ). This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) passed Resolution No. 98 dated 04 February 2021, which granted the request of Baguio City to resume hotel operations in consideration of the huge number of confirmed bookings for the month of February.

Terminal 4 hosts domestic flights

Airport authorities have made the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 an all-domestic terminal, completing on the transfer of international and jetliner flights to the bigger terminal Terminal 3.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said the reactivation of the secondary runway 13/31 facilitated the relocation of Air Asia Zest international flights as well as 24 Cebu Pacific Air-Tiger (CEB-Go) Airways flights to NAIA Terminal 3.

Star rating for tourist spots

For the first time, the Philippines will have its own hotel rating system based on a global standard that will elevate the status of Philippine accommodation facilities.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) said it has assessed over 700 tourism establishments in the past year and is poised to rate them under a new system ranging from one to five stars under the National Accommodation Standards (NAS).

Local tourists spend US$19 billion

Filipinos visiting local tourism sites will spend US$19 billion (PhP855 billion) this year, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTT). 

The amount is close to one-third of the planned government budget for next year.
