10 Tourism Clusters

The government aims to develop 10 strategic tourism areas in the country.

How Many Foreign Tourists Visited the Philippines as of February 2014

International visitor arrivals increased 3.5 percent year-on-year in the first two months of 2014, according to the Department of Tourism (DoT).  The Philippines welcomed 884,014 visitors in January and February this year, up from 854,187 arrivals recorded a year ago.  The month of January supplied 461,383 visitors which was 5.8 percent higher than a year ago while the month of February provided 422,631 visitors for a growth of 1.1 percent.
 
 

Terminal 4 hosts domestic flights

Airport authorities have made the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 an all-domestic terminal, completing on the transfer of international and jetliner flights to the bigger terminal Terminal 3.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said the reactivation of the secondary runway 13/31 facilitated the relocation of Air Asia Zest international flights as well as 24 Cebu Pacific Air-Tiger (CEB-Go) Airways flights to NAIA Terminal 3.

RP ranked as 87th in tourism

 

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has ranked the Philippines as 87th among 124 countries in the first ever Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index. Out of the possible perfect score of 7.0, it received 3.8.

Clark airport expands

The government has inaugurated the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) Terminal 1 expansion project that increased the passenger capacity of the terminal for the added convenience of travelers using Clark as gateway, according to a report by BusinessMirror.

No minors in Philippine hotels

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has set a meeting with owners and operators of hotels and resorts in the country to inform them about a new policy disallowing Filipino minors from entering and staying inside the rooms of foreign guests not related to them.  The policy is the recommendation laid down by the Interagency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT).
 
“Especially the resorts, and those small hotels and inns because, in many cases, pedophiles use small hotels to cover their acts due to less strict rules,” said Secretary de Lima.
